A Few Good Pairs

It wasn't fun when I slid down the water slide and hoisted myself out of the water only to find that one of my favorite earrings went missing. Ever since I lost my knots I've been searching for another pair. Today, as the fates would have it, I finally found another pair. Though they're not exactly the same (they may in all actuality be nicer), I'm officially on cloud nine. I hate that when I'm searching for something I can never find it, the truth of the matter is that even though it's a cliche to say 'it happens when you're not looking' with respect to love it's applicable to practically every aspect of my life (a lesson I've been reminded of day by day).

In January my aunt decided to empty a jewelry box (which was kind of like a pot of gold) on the bed and gave me free reign to take what I wanted. I found these orchid earrings that I love, they're the perfect pair of earrings, so much so that I wear them way too much. I beat myself up every time I fall asleep in them because it always seems like a petal has been distorted by my sleeping habits. I've been worrying about what will happen when I finally do the unthinkable and one of them ends up breaking. Crazy glue had honestly been sounding like a realistic option, until today when I found the beautiful flower earrings listed above.

I may have to wait a few weeks for them to arrive but let me say this incase you haven't heard me say it before: I love ideeli.com. The Antiquities sale is only on for another day or so but if you're interested join the site (here's the link: www.ideeli.com/invite/funnyface.cts) and check them out.

The One Earring Blues

Okay so I'm terrible at this keeping a pair of earrings a "pair" of earrings thing. I lost one of my favourite earrings yesterday to a waterpark ride, even though I should have the sense to know not to wear them, stupidity caught me. It's not the first time my duo's have gone solo, so I'm trying to concot the perfect solution to my recurring issue. When I was a teenager in highschool, I used them to decorate my kilt, if they were cute and dangly that was where they went before they ended up in my earring retirement home. I don't quite have the heart to throw them away, so I've got to find a place for them that doesn't include them never being seen again. I've contemplated a modern art project that'll have ever solitary (and I mean solitary) earring that I own that has ever been left alone. But I've been thinking, I can't possibly be the only person that this happens to, so I'm on a mission to solve this one for all of us. That's my new design project, just thought I'd give you all a heads up, because or else we plan to put all our hair to one side for the rest of our lives something's gotta give.

Accessory Necessities

With every season comes new accessories and with that the task of choosing the ones that work for us. Here's my mock up of a few of my favourite things for summer, consider them as important as water and sunscreen. As if my wallet collection wasn't complete this season decided to teach me once again, that I can never have enough of any accessory, no matter how many I already own. I've been seeing the piano hinge wallet (1) everywhere and like the wallet addict I am, I couldn't resist buying one. Now it seems Forever 21 is taunting me with its variations on this beautiful compact wallet. They have them in vinyl, basket weave, metallic, floral, and reptile styles to name a few and the variety is driving me crazy because, I want them all. Of course with that new wallet comes the urge to buy a new purse. I’m adoring the carved handle clutches (2), the wooden handles and the floral or tribal print fabric just screams summer! Taking a step down from the accessories that house our lives are teardrops (3), these earrings add a certain polish to any ensemble, they're a tasteful combination of modern style and vintage elegance. Teardrops finish off a look with timeless taste and a punch of glitz, what more could a girl ask of an accessory? Moving down the list to my last item is an accessory that was inspired by one of the most well known female super heroes ever; Wonder Woman. Reminiscent of the accessories Lynda Carter wore in the tv series are my new favourite style of bracelets. Whether you choose to wear them on one or on both arms, cuff's (4) are Hot; they're elegant and feminine, yet they exude power and confidence. Check out shopstyle.com for the accessories shown above and with the satisfaction garnered from spotting this season’s trends I’ll be ready and waiting to select another set of favourites for the fall, but until then my job here is done.
